TANDECK WARRANTY INFORMATION FOR CONTRACTORS
Tangent Technologies supports its contractor-partners with a materials warranty that is second to none in the alternative decking industry. TanDeck is engineered to look new for years and last for decades with almost no maintenance. It never needs to be stained, sealed or painted. Its colors go throughout the material and are made with special UV inhibitors which prevent fading for years.
Properly installed TanDeck is warranted for 50 years. To ensure that your installation is covered by the warranty, be sure to follow the instructions below. Tangent cannot be responsible for material installed improperly or for installations that have not been registered and acknowledged by us.
Here is what the warranty covers :
Tangent Technologies warrants that properly installed TanDeck product will not rot, splinter, decay or suffer structural damage directly from termites or fungal decay under normal residential use for a period of (50) years from the date of purchase (the “Warranty Period”). To be eligible for the warranty, the TanDeck system must be installed by a qualified contractor or homeowner according to the TanDeck Install Guidelines. Tangent Technologies does not recommend or approve this product for all end use applications. The appropriate national and local code authorities should be consulted for safety, suitability and applicability for intended use prior to purchasing product.
Expansion and Contraction occurs naturally with all plastic resin-based products when they are subjected to large variations in temperature. Properly installed TanDeck systems include hidden gaps and clips to allow for this expansion and contraction. Installers should make sure that materials have been allowed to adjust to the ambient temperatures before installation. Normally this means leaving product open to the air at the deck site for approximately 24 hours. Installers are responsible for installing the materials in a manner that accounts for this natural expansion and contraction. In very hot or very cold weather, installers should anticipate that the material will be at the larger or smaller range of this expansion
or contraction and adjust gaps accordingly. Please carefully follow the installation guidelines provided in this document. The TanDeck warranty does not apply to gaps or problems arising from improperly installed materials.
Static Electricity. Occasionally, homeowners may experience the effects of static electricity after walking on their TanDeck. This is similar to the static shocks experienced when walking across a carpet in dry weather and may also occur with a TanDeck system in very dry weather, especially when the deck is first installed. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon and not a sign of a product defect. The effects can
often be minimized by wetting the deck with water from a hose. Usually, static electricity problems will become less noticeable over time as the product weathers.
Cleaning and Maintenance . One of the primary benefits of a TanDeck installation is that it needs virtually no maintenance. Unlike wood decks or composite decks, TanDeck never needs to be sealed or stained. The surface is highly resistant to stains, and a simple cleaning is all that is normally required. Normal dirt and grim can be easily cleaned with liquid dish soap and water. A light brushing can speed the process. After brushing, just rinse with a hose. Pressure washing is not required or recommended; there is the possibility of damaging the TanDeck material if too much water pressure is applied with a power washer.
The TanDeck wood grain surface helps to minimize slipping when the material is wet or frosty. As with any deck surface, homeowners should be careful of slipping in these conditions. Salt and other ice melting chemicals can be safely used to minimize slippery conditions in freezing weather without harming the TanDeck surface. Slight color variation is a normal condition due to the use of some recycled products in the manufacturing process.
Installer Accountabilities and Disclaimers . This guideline and summary are intended to provide the distributor, installer and end user with basic guidelines for properly installing and enjoying TanDeck products. However, the installer and/or purchaser of any TanDeck product is solely responsible for interpreting specific job conditions, and determining the appropriate design and suitability of use and application of TanDeck products.
