TANDECK INSTALLATION NOTES

Any contractor or homeowner wishing to properly install a TanDeck system must read and follow our special Install Guidelines. These provide specific recommendations for the deck support structure, using our hidden fastener system and allowing for the product’s natural expansion and contraction with weather extremes. Inappropriately installed product is not covered by Tangent’s material warranty.

This product is not structural and should not be used in any type of structural use or support.

Normal woodworking tools can be used when working with these components. Remember to make SAFETY your primary concern. Use proper gloves, eye protection and dust mask in all aspects of handling, fabricating and working with these products. Tangent Technologies does not recommend or approve this product for all end use applications. The appropriate national and local code authorities should be consulted for safety, suitability and applicability for intended use prior to purchasing product.

Expansion and Contraction

Expansion and Contraction occurs naturally with all plastic resin-based products when they are subjected to large variations in temperature. Properly installed TanDeck systems include hidden gaps and clips to allow for this expansion and contraction. Installers should make sure that materials have been allowed to adjust to the ambient temperatures before installation. Normally this means leaving product open to the air at the deck site for approximately 24 hours. Installers are responsible for installing the materials in a manner that accounts for this natural expansion and contraction. In very hot or very cold weather, installers should anticipate that the material will be at the larger or smaller range of this expansion

or contraction and adjust gaps accordingly. Please carefully follow the installation guidelines provided in this document. The TanDeck warranty does not apply to gaps or problems arising from improperly installed materials.

Static Electricity

Occasionally, homeowners may experience the effects of static electricity after walking on their TanDeck. This is similar to the static shocks experienced when walking across a carpet in dry weather and may also occur with a TanDeck system in very dry weather, especially when the deck is first installed. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon and not a sign of a product defect. The effects can often be minimized by wetting the deck with water. Usually, static electricity problems will become less noticeable over time as the product weathers.

Installer Accountabilities and Disclaimers .
